In 1982, the husband and wife team of Brent and Donna Pyper began Greely Sand & Gravel Inc.
Product quality and service have driven Greely Sand & Gravel Inc. into their 25th year of business. After 14 years of dedicated service to Greely Sand & Gravel, Brent’s sister Sandy Simcoe will be retiring in 2007. Her strength and determination, kindness and support were evident throughout the years. As she moves to Mississauga to be with her daughter’s family, her warm smile will be greatly missed.

Greely Sand & Gravel, with its subsidiary Greely Environmental Services, is a licensed compost facility that processes leaf and yard waste for the commercial sector and municipalities. Greely Sand & Gravel is one of the forerunners in incorporating reusable waste into their product, having opened their Greely Environmental Services composting facility in 1999.

Greely Sand & Gravel has been a member of the Composting Quality Alliance (CQA) since it was established by the Composting Council of Canada (CCC). Greely Sand & Gravel agrees with uniformed organization and standardized testing methodologies, thus providing their clientele with reliable mature compost. Furthermore, the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) has established strict guidelines to produce high quality compost suitable for all types of applications. Greely Sand & Gravel’s mature compost passes the CCME standards for Category A compost. Greely Sand & Gravel has been enhancing the recycled components of their quality products for over 20 years through the use of Continental Mushroom Farm’s compost. Greely Sand & Gravel has teamed with Continental Mushroom Farm in processing, delivery, marketing and sales. Greely Sand & Gravel processes 20,000 cubic meters of mushroom compost for Continental Mushroom Farm, as part of a working agreement. Greely Sand & Gravel also sells Continental Mushroom compost to both the commercial and private market.

In order to continue creating and maintaining quality products, Greely Sand & Gravel has developed an In-House lab for testing soil during and after processing. This is to ensure uniformity throughout the material. If the desired result is achieved, a sample is sent to an accredited lab to produce up-to-date reports. Specialty products such as river wash stone, limestone varieties, mushroom compost and special mulches are also available through Greely Sand & Gravel.

An innovative idea allows customers the opportunity to use Mini Roll-off Containers to get rid of excavation and/or leaf and yard waste. With the benefit of receiving two different products in the container, and renting the container for yard waste, customers are able to save money and time.
